About the letter J in fancy fonts
J is the youngest letter in the English alphabet, and its descending hook is what makes it fun to style. Script ๐ฅ turns the hook into a loop, double-struck ๐ doubles the stem, and bubble โฟ keeps it round and friendly.

Where the letter J comes from
J started as a variant of I. Medieval scribes often gave the last i in a sequence (as in Roman numerals like "iij") a tail below the line. In 1524 the Italian writer Gian Giorgio Trissino argued for treating J as its own letter with its own sound, and over the following two centuries printers adopted it. For a long time dictionaries still sorted I and J together. J is also one of the least-used letters in English.
How J behaves in different styles
J has no Letterlike exceptions: all of its script, gothic and double-struck forms live in the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, so a styled J always matches the letters next to it.
The gotcha is gothic ๐. In blackletter, capital J is drawn very much like capital I (โ), so "๐๐๐จ๐ข" may be read as "Iake" by some people. For names like James, Jade or Jordan, script ๐ฅ or bold serif ๐ is clearer.
Lowercase j dips below the line, and in script ๐ฟ and bold script ๐ณ the descender can be long. That's fine in a display name, but keep an eye on it in multi-line bios.

Does every style have a J?
All the main styles do: script, bold script, fraktur, double-struck, bold, italic, monospace, circled, squared and fullwidth. Small caps แด exists too (U+1D0A).
Why is J the newest letter?
It was only treated as separate from I from the 16th century onward, well after the other letters were established. U and W were also late additions.
