Unicode Compatibility Checker
Paste any fancy text below to see why it might break — math letters, circled text, fullwidth, combining marks, emoji — and whether to keep it short or swap it for plain text. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
How to read the result
Plain ASCII (A–Z, 0–9) is the only style guaranteed everywhere — search indexes it, screen readers pronounce it, forms accept it. Math letters (𝐁, 𝓢, 𝔾, 𝟚) and circled (②) are fine as a short name or list marker. Fullwidth (A) is aesthetic but wide. Combining marks (strikethrough, overlines, zalgo) stack invisible characters on each letter — they cause the most boxes, layout glitches and screen-reader spelling.
Quick examples — what scores what
- Maya ♡ → green. One high-compatibility symbol, rest plain. Safe for bios and display names.
- 𝟚𝟘𝟚𝟞 → green/amber. Double-struck digits are decorative but widely supported; keep amounts and phone numbers plain.
- 𝓢𝓸𝓹𝓱𝓲𝓪 → amber. Script math letters: fine for one name, wrong for a paragraph or form.
- Z̴a̴l̴g̴o̴ test → red. Stacked combining marks break layouts and assistive tech — use once for fun, never for info.
Per-platform notes
- Instagram bio/caption: bold, sans and monospace survive best. Keep hashtags plain or they won't link.
- TikTok/Discord/WhatsApp: similar to Instagram; display names tolerate symbols, handles do not.
- iOS vs Android: always preview on both — older Android drops ornamental blocks first.
- Screen readers: may announce ② as “circled digit two” and script letter-by-letter. Never put contact info, prices or instructions in fancy text alone.
- Forms & sheets: never submit styled digits where a machine calculates — use plain 0–9.
Checker FAQs
Does this upload my text?
No. Analysis runs locally in your browser via JavaScript. We never see or store what you paste.
My text scored “short decoration only” — what now?
Shorten it to one word or line, or restyle in bold/italic from the Font Generator. Re-check until it drops to green.
Why do combining marks score worst?
Each visual effect adds extra code points (U+0300–U+036F and friends). Some apps clip them, some stack them into an unreadable tower, and assistive tech chokes on them.
