About the letter E in fancy fonts
E is the most common letter in English text, so it shows up in almost every name, bio and caption you style. That makes it worth knowing how it behaves. In script, both the capital โฐ and the lowercase โฏ come from an older part of Unicode than the rest of the script alphabet.

Where the letter E comes from
E comes from the Phoenician letter he, which may have begun as a picture of a person with raised arms. The Greeks turned it into epsilon, and the Romans took the Greek shape directly. The lowercase e developed from rounded handwritten forms of the capital, with the middle bar becoming a closed eye.
How E behaves in different styles
Both script E characters are exceptions:
- โฐ (Script Capital E, U+2130), used for things like electromotive force in physics
- โฏ (Script Small E, U+212F), used in mathematics for Euler's number
Unicode encoded these in the Letterlike Symbols block long before the full script alphabet, and left gaps where the new versions would go. Because E is so common, a script word full of E's is where you're most likely to notice a slight size mismatch. If that bothers you, switch to bold script (๐, ๐ฎ), which is entirely in the main block.
Don't confuse โฏ with โฎ (Estimated Symbol, U+212E), the "e-mark" printed on European packaging. They look similar but mean different things.
