About the letter D in fancy fonts
D is a stem plus one big bowl, and that bowl gives fancy styles plenty of room. Script ๐ swings the curve out past the stem, gothic ๐ turns it into a hooked shield, and double-struck ๐ป draws the stem twice.

Where the letter D comes from
D comes from the Phoenician daleth, meaning "door", drawn as a triangle. The Greeks used the same triangle for delta (ฮ), and the Romans rounded one side to make the D we know. The lowercase d came from scribes writing the capital quickly: the stem grew taller than the bowl and moved to the right.
How D behaves in different styles
D is one of the "clean" letters for Unicode styling. Its script, gothic and double-struck capitals all live in the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block with no exceptions, so a word like ๐๐๐๐ถ๐ looks even from letter to letter.
The styles most likely to cause trouble with D are the ones that aren't really about the letter at all: decorated and "glitch" styles built from combining marks stacked on top of a plain d. Those can overlap the next line of text in some apps. For names that need to stay readable, pick a single-character style from the table below.

- Designer and DJ names. Bold sans ๐ and monospace ๐ณ suit minimal creative brands.
- Dates and days in captions. Double-struck ๐ป works as an initial for "Day 1" style series posts.
FAQs about the letter D in different fonts
Why do all my D styles look consistent while C and B don't?
D has no older Letterlike Symbols stand-ins. Every script, gothic and double-struck D is in the same Unicode math block, so fonts usually draw them as a matched set.
Is there a small-caps d?
Yes: แด (Latin Letter Small Capital D, U+1D05), from the Phonetic Extensions block. It's supported on current iPhone and Android versions.
Will a fancy D work in a Discord name?
Yes. Discord display names and server nicknames accept these Unicode letters. Your unique @username still has to use plain lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores.
